Apparently I had forgotten to upload this review comic, which was requested by our co-executive producer Avrom Honig. Menashe was a lovely character study, and you lament how much even “independent” films have started to shoehorn itself into Hollywood tropes in order to make a profit, you would do well to seek it out.

Just so you know, the next Multiplex 10 web series episode is coming… in a few weeks! It is by far the most complex one we’ve done to date, clocking in at over four minutes and featuring the largest cast of any of them. Notably, we’ll see the return of Becky (again played by Aiyanna Wade) and Franklin (played by Malcolm Ray from Channel Awesome).

Bear with us! It’s a hard one, but it’ll be worth it.

This movie review comic is a slightly different format than the ones I’ve done in the past featuring Jason Classic (from the comic strip). Since I’m planning to collect the reviews of the Middle-Earth, Star Wars, and Harry Potter movies in a digital comic, I wanted to draw the pages in a more traditional comic book size, in hopes of submitting it to Comixology or otherwise offering it up for sale elsewhere. So I did this one to help figure out the format and build templates and such.

If you dig this review, there are more coming! And you can read them a little bit earlier than the unwashed masses by being one of our Patreon patrons…

Melissa and Becky also think you should pledge to support the Multiplex 10: The Web Series Kickstarter.

While anybody coming to this website very likely already knows these two hooligans, in order re-re-re-introduce Kurt and Jason to potential backers around the Internet, I made this comic. And I’ll be doing a few more as we get closer to the deadline. Who doesn’t like more Multiplex 10 comics? NOBODY, that’s who.

If you haven’t already, please consider backing the Multiplex 10 project as early as possible! The closer we get to deadline, the more important it is for us to look like we’re in striking distance of the goal. Because we do have a very good chance, if my past Kickstarter are any indication, and it would be fantastic to be able to fund longer or more complicated episodes, or more than just the five web series episodes and five reviews. The more money we raise, the better we can make Multiplex 10.

I’ve been avoiding talking too much about what this new batch of episodes will be like, because it’s always possible that as we get to the production date, we’ll scrap any ideas we have now and do something completely different. But there are two ideas I’m comfortable mentioning:

• We’re definitely going to do a Becky/Melissa spotlight episode that’s more of a direct sequel to the animated short.
• One of them will be a horror-themed episode that we hope to be able to submit to horror film festivals afterwards.

What do YOU want to see Multiplex 10 touch on in upcoming episodes? Any genres or upcoming movies releasing this fall/winter that you’d like to see us make fun of in a web series episode or review in a Movie Minutes episode? Let me know on Facebook, Twitter, or wherever.

Like Melissa and Kurt said in the comic, we’ve blown past the base goal for the Indiegogo Second Chance campaign, and we’ve passed the $3,000 stretch goal, as well—with a couple of days remaining in the funding period.

At this point, we’ve unlocked 4GB USB cards and a director’s commentary track for the short film, and we’re already getting the ball rolling for some all-new animated things. The exact format is up to the funding.

At the $4,000 stretch goal, we can definitely fund a 2–3 minute webisode. Less than that, and we’ll see what we can do… A minute? A handful of even shorter things? We’ll see! Whatever it is, it’ll be fun.

If you’re up for helping make that happen, head on over to the Indiegogo campaign page and pledge today! The campaign ends on FRIDAY NIGHT.

These comics are an introduction to the new versions of the characters and will hopefully give you a sense of the (slightly) different tone in this new take on the characters.

Just $1,500 to go before we can officially greenlight the pilot. But the more we raise, the better we can make the short and the more effectively we can distribute it, both of which improve our chances of getting a full series made down the road.

So please, continue to share the project with your friends and friends as we head into the last week of the funding period.

Thank you for your support!

Angie, like Franklin, is another significant character from Multiplex who only gets a brief cameo in the pilot episode. So here she is in a Multiplex 10 comic strip.

I didn’t expect to post this so soon! Today’s been a pretty good day, Kickstarter-wise! Thank you for all your support! Please keep telling your friends about the project. We want to make this thing as awesome as it can  be.

The Multiplex 10: the animated short Kickstarter project has hit two milestones at the same time: 400 backers and crossing the 85% mark toward our funding goal!

We’ve still got a ways to go, but with ten days remaining, we’re in excellent shape. If you’d like see turn Multiplex into a Multiplex 10 web series (or TV series?!) distribution is really crucial. Head over to Kickstarter and pledge your support today!

Franklin here is one of the bigger characters from Multiplex (the comic strip), but he only gets a tiny cameo in the Multiplex 10 pilot. Hopefully we’ll get to do more than just the first episode, because he’ll have more to do in episode two.

Hello! The Multiplex 10 Kickstarter project ends in just over 14 days. As of this writing, we are a little north of $12,000, so just past 80% of our goal. Judging from my last two Kickstarters, we’re doing very well. The final week should pick up considerably over this past week.

BUT don’t forget that we still have a milestone goal of Jason reviewing every Harry Potter movie if we make that $15,000 baseline goal on/before Wednesday, April 26th, though! (Plus Fantastic Beasts if we make it on/before Monday, April 24th. But that seems kind of unlikely at this point.) I thought that was a fun premise… but it’s up to the Gods of Kickstarter now.

I also officially added our first (and, at this point, only) STRETCH GOAL. At $20,000, we’ll be able to do a few extra things:

• Smoother, 4K animation
• 5.1 Surround Sound mix (courtesy sound designer Ian Vargo)
• AND… a theatrical premiere at the Somerville Theatre here in Somerville, MA. (All backers at the Special Thanks level and up will get free admission… and, of course, transportation is not provided.)

Thanks so much for all your support. I’m exciting at how the Kickstarter project is coming together, and I can’t wait to get started on the animated short. (Full time, I mean. I’m already working on it!)
